Este producto es el principal que deberías de ahorrar por dos razones. La primera es que casi todos los rímeles tienen la misma fórmula y lo que cambia es el empaque y la brocha. La segunda razón es que es el producto que debes de cambiar entre 3-5 meses porque se seca muy rápido  y es peligroso usar un rímel viejo ya que es fácil que produzca una infección en los ojos. Los maquilladores profesionales generalmente eligen este tipo de productos que tienen la misma calidad que uno más caro y estos rímeles son de culto desde hace más de cuarenta años.

This product is the main one you should save for two reasons. The first one is that almost every mascara has the same formula and what changes is the package and the brush. No hay cosa que más me enoje que un barniz malo y que se caiga a las horas que se aplicó. Curiosamente pensé que uno más caro iba a ser mejor pero cual fue mi sorpresa que uno caro es igual o peor que uno más barato. Estas marcar la mayoría se especializa en barnices y por eso recomiendo escoger estas ya que son mejores y tienen una variedad muy extensa de colores. Sé que O.P.I. y Essie no son los más baratos pero valen muchísimo el precio por la calida, es la que la mayoría de los manicuristas prefieren, duran mucho (hasta dos semanas), son muy cubriente y tienen todos los colores que te imagines. 

There isn't a thing that makes me more angry than a bad nail polish that chips a few hours after you apply it. Curiosely I thought a pricier one would be better but at my surprise it turned out to be as bad as a cheaper one. This brands mainly especiallize in nail products and that's why I recommend to choose these because they are better and have an enormous variety of colors. I know that O.P.I. and Essie are not the cheapest ones but they are worth every penny, the majority of manicurists prefere them, they last a lot of time (even two weeks), have an amazing coverage and have any color you can imagine.

Recientemente volví a la universidad y me di cuenta de lo fuera de lugar que está el maquillaje que llevan algunas alumnas. No tengo nada en contra de las personas a las que les gusta arreglarse, pero no creo que el maquillaje que llevas a la escuela, trabajo, etc sea el mismo que llevarías a una fiesta o antro. Además de que realmente no es bueno para tu piel y que probablemente pierdes mucho tiempo. Yo usualmente me pongo polvo traslucido, un poco de rímel y otro poco de lipstick. No soy fan del lipgloss, no me gusta lo pegajoso que es. Ese generalmente es mi maquillaje del día a día, pero he notado que algunas personas se arreglan todos los días igual que Kim Kardashian en la portada de InStyle, desde los kilos de sombra, rímel y rubor hasta el peinado, alaciado o enchinado, pero ese será otro tema. Por eso hoy decidí poner algunos ejemplos de estilos de maquillaje sencillo que se pueden usar día a día.

Recently I went back to college and I realized how out of place it's the makeup that some of the students wear. I have nothing against people who likes smarten themselves, but I don't think the makeup you wear to school, work, etc should be the same you wear for a party or a club. Plus it really isn't good for your skin and you probably lose a lot of time by getting ready. I usually wear face powder, a little mascara and a little lipstick. I'm not a fan of lipgloss, I dont like how sticky it is. That's usually my everyday makeup, but I've noticed that some girls manage to look every day like Kim Kardashian on the cover of InStyle, from kilograms of eyeshadow, mascara and blush to the hairstyle, straightening or curled, but that's another topic. So today I decided to give some examples of simple makeup styles that you can use every day.

Leighton suele usar tanto en la serie de televisión Gossip Girl como en sus presentaciones un maquillaje ligero, un poco de rubor, lipstick y un poco de rímel. // Leighton usually wears a simple makeup in the tv show Gossip Girl and in her public presentations. 

Anne usa un poco de delineado para enmarcar sus ojos y elige un lipstick en un tono más fuerte para resaltar su piel o sólo usa el delineado con rímel. Ambos looks hacen que se vea bastante natural. // Anne wears eyeliner to frame her eyes and a stronger lipstick to make her porcelain skin stand out. 

Personalmente soy fan de Mary-Louise en la serie de Weeds, me encanta su look sencillo y despreocupado generalmente sólo usa rímel y un poco de rubor lo cual hace que sus ojos resalten y se vea natural. // Personally I'm a fan of Mary-Louise on the tv show Weeds, I love her simple and carefree look, she usually only wears mascara and a little blush making her eyes pop out and looking very natural.

Kristen no suele usar mucho maquillaje a menos que se trate de la sesión fotográfica de alguna revista. En sus presentaciones suele usar poco maquillaje que incluye rímel, un poco de lipstick, algo de rubor y de vez en cuando sombras. // Kristen doesn't wear a lot of makeup unless it is for a magazine photoshoot. In her public appearances she often uses little makeup that includes mascara, a little lipstick, some blush and occasionally eyeshadows

Keira le agrega sombras no muy oscuras a su look pero siempre viendose natural, incluso en las fotos para la campaña de Coco Mademoiselle para Chanel se ve natural. // Keira adds some not very dark eyeshadows to her look, always looking natural, even in the photos for the Coco Mademoiselle campaign for Chanel she looks super natural.

Por eso mi recomendación es que para el día a día utilices un maquillaje más natural, de esa forma cuando te arregles para salir podrás causar una impresión completa en los demás y podrás lucir como modelo o estrella de cine.

So my recommendation is that you use a more natural makeup on your every day, that way when you go out to parties or clubs you can leave an impression on others by looking like a model or a movie star.

Esta semana escogí a la supermodelo británica que recientemente vimos en la clausura de las olimpiadas, Kate Moss. Esta modelo de 38 años lleva más de 20 años sorprendiéndonos e imponiendo tendencias. Su look característico es el de chica mala y un maquillaje muy despreocupado y rockero. Más abajo te diremos como te puedes maquillar de este modo que es perfecto para salir de noche y combina muy bien con una chamarra de piel. 

The past two weeks we made posts of classic beauty icons that you can check here: Marilyn Monroe and Edie Sedgewick. This week I chose the british supermodel that we recently saw on the closing ceremony of the olympics, Kate Moss. This 38 year old model has 20 years suprising us and setting trends. Her characteristic look is the bad rocker chick and a similar makeup. Down below we will tell you how to get her makeup look ,it's perfect for a night out and it goes amazing with a biker jacket. 

El look favorito de Kate Moss es el smokey eye y para esto escogimos la paleta de colores grises de la marca Rimmel London (que por cierto Kate Moss es la imagen). Se empieza aplicando en todo el párpado la sombra de color más claro que en este caso es el gris aperlado. En la parte exterior del ojo se aplica la sombra de color gris intermedio y se hace una pequeña "V" hacia afuera que luego se desvanece con el pincel para que no se vea tan marcado. Para terminar, se aplica la sombra de color gris oscuro pegado a la linea de las pestañas superior e inferior para hacerlo más dramático y rockero. Si tienes alguna duda, hay una imagen abajo que se ve donde se aplica cada sombra. Se puede usar un primer para sombras si se desea o si se tiene una piel con tendencia a acné. Para darle más fuerza a la mirada se rizan las pestañas y se aplica un rímel negro en las pestañas superiores e inferiores.

Para dejar todo el protagonismo a los ojos se termina este look con un lipstick color nude con un tono base de durazno y si se desea se puede usar un poco de rubor en un tono no muy llamativo para enmarcar la cara. En el pelo ella generalmente lo lleva suelto y natural y se puede aplicar un poco de crema estilizante para evitar el frizz.

Kate Moss' favorite look is the smokey eye and for this we chose the grey eyeshadow palette from Rimmel London (that by the way Kate Moss is the face). You start by applying the lightest shimmery gray in all the lid. On the exterior part of the eye you apply the medium grey and make a little "V" outside and then smudge with a brush so it doesn't look so harsh. To end, you apply the darkest grey close to the line of the lashes superior and inferior to make it more dramatic and rocker. If you have any doubt, there is an image where you can see exactly where you apply it. You can use an eyeshadow primer if you want or if you have oily skin. To give the look more strenght you curl your eyelashes and apply mascara on your top and bottom lashes.

To let all the attention to the eyes you finish the look with a nude lipstick with a peach undertone and if you want a light blush to define your face. To achieve her hair she usually wears it very natural and down , you can apply some styling cream to avoid the frizz.

CHA CHA TINT

 

Desde hace bastante tiempo quería probar los productos (en especial las cheek stains) de la marca Benefit. Había leído en muchos blogs acerca de la Benetint y leyendo otras reseñas ví que podía verse algo pálido en mi color de piel y recomendaban esta tinta de mejillas y labios. Debo admitir que los blushes son de mis productos favoritos así que fuí al mostrador de Benefit a probar los diferentes tonos y quedé enamorada. Esta tinta según la página da un brillo tropical que dura y dura que hace parecer como su te hubieras bronceado ligaramente. Creo que es un excelente producto ya que me lo apliqué en la mañana y me dura hasta la noche, se ve súper natural y perfecto para diario. Para diario no me gusta maquillarme muy fuerte y solo apliqué un protector solar Eau Thermalle de Avène para piel con acné,  luego el corrector de Clinique, dos capas de rímel The Colossal Volume Express de Maybelline, Look Felino y esta tinta. Es muy fácil de aplicar, solo se ponen unas gotas en las manzanas de las mejillas y se difumina con los dedos. En el mostrador lo hicieron con una brocha pero intenté hacerlo y fue un desastre, así que prefiero hacerlo con los dedos. Luego apliqué del mismo producto en los labios y eso fue todo. La botella esta de un tamaño razonable y creo que me durará mucho así que creo que vale lo que cuesta totalmente. Quedé muy feliz con este producto y le daría un diez de calificación, no puedo esperar a probar otros productos de Benefit.

It's been a long time since I wanted to try the products (especially the cheek stains) from Benefit. I've read in many blogs about Benetint and viewing other reviews I saw that it can look a bit pale on my skin and they recomended this cheek and lip stain. I have to admit that blushes are one of my favorite beauty products so I went to the Benefit counter to try the different tones and I fell instantly in love. According to their website "This mango-tinted stain beautifully blushes lips & cheeks with a tropical sunset hue. Smooch-proof & smudge-proof, this sheer stain will have you looking deliciously sun-kissed for hours." I trully believe this is an excellent product because I applied it in the morning and it does stay until the night, looks very natural and it's perfect for a daily basis. For everyday I don't like to apply too much makeup and I just applied a sunscreen Eau Thermalle from Avène for acne prone skin, then Clinique concealer, two coats of The Colossal Volume Express from Maybelline Feline Look mascara and this tint. It's very easy to apply , you just put a tiny dots on the apples of your cheeks and smudge it with your fingers. In the counter they put it with a brush and I try to do it that way but it was a mess, so I prefered to do it with my fingers. Then I apply the same product on my lips and that was it. The bottle is a reasonable size and I think it will last so I believe it is worth totally what it costs. I am very happy with this product and I would give it a ten, cannot wait to try other Benefit products!

Más de una vez me ha pasado que mis sombras favoritas, mi rubor o polvo compacto se rompen; muchas veces tuve que tirarlos, hasta ahora que me topé con la solución y la verdad es que es la cosa más sencilla. Lo único que necesitas es: Alcohol 70%, un pedazo de plástico para envolver, un gotero, una espátula, una brocha delgada (aunque yo use un corta-uñas) y un Q-tip. Después de seguir estos 5 pasos parecerá que nada nunca le paso a tus sombras, rubores, etc.
(Yo utilicé un kit que traía tres colores de sombras diferentes.)
1.- ENVUELVE: completamente las sombras con el pedazo de plástico, asegúrate de que esté bien apretado.
2.- DESTRUYE: rompe todo el polvo, no sólo lo que ya estaba roto con la punta de la brocha (yo utilicé el corta-uñas)
3.- AGREGA ALCOHOL: quita el pedazo de plástico ya que este hecho polvo y agrega al menos diez veces el contenido del gotero completo (yo utilicé doce) hasta que se cubra todo.
4.- ALISA: tendrá una textura ligeramente cremosa y entonces puedes alisarlo con la espátula (yo utilicé el corta-uñas)
5.- PERFECCIONA: Utiliza el Q-tip para limpiar los bordes, dale unas horas para que se seque y después será como si nada nunca hubiera pasado!

More than once my favorite eye shadows, blush or compact powder have fell and shattered; many times they ended up in the trash, recently that I found the solution, which is really simple. You only need: 70% alcohol, plastic wrap, spatula ( I used a nail cutter), dropper and a Q-tip. After following these 5 steps it will be as  if nothing ever happened to your eye shadows, blush, compact, etc...
(I used a kit that had three different colors of eyeshadow)
1.- WRAP: completely with the piece of plastic and make sure it's tight.
2.- DESTROY: With your spatula, crush up the entire pan of shadow, not just the broken pieces until it turns to dust.
3.- ADD ALCOHOL: Remove the wrap and add at least 10 droppers full of alcohol until it covers everything. (I used a dozen).
4.-SMOOTH IT OVER: Now you’ll feel the powder has creamy texture giving you the perfect opportunity to even it out smoothly with your spatula.(I used the nail cutter)
5.- PERFECT THE EDGES: use the Q-tip to clean the edges, give it a few hours to dry and then it will be like nothing ever happened!

Esto depende principalmente de cada fórmula y esto es un aproximado. Recuerda que si te empieza a irritar o cambia de olor es importante que lo tires.

Cremas de cara

Usualmente las cremas de cara, en especial las que tienen medicamento, tienen fecha de caducidad. Sin embargo, las cremas cosméticas en general no deben de conservarse más de 6 meses. La acidez de la piel en los dedos puede deteriorar los ingredientes activos y contaminar el producto.

¿Cómo conservar las cremas de cara? Ponlas en el estante del baño donde no estén expuestas al sol. También es buena idea dejarles el papel que las recubren después de abrirlas.

Face creams

Usually, most face creams, especially those containing drugs, carry expiration date. However, cosmeceutical face creams shouldn't be kept, in general, for more than 6 months. The acidity of the skin on your fingers can deteriorate the active ingredients of the product that can be contaminated by bacteria.

How to store face creams? Keep them in your bathroom cabinet It is a good idea to keep the backing paper on, after opening the cream.

Base

Es recomendable que la base líquida se conserve por 6 meses , aunque en la envoltura esté escrito 12 meses, porque las propiedades del producto se pueden alterar fácilmente. El polvo compacto se puede conservar por 8 meses porque es de base aceitosa y junto con los ingredientes secos tienen más resistencia a diferentes factores externos. Conserva la base en un lugar seco, lejos de la luz, especialmente si tiene un empaque transparente.

Foundation

It is advisable that a liquid foundation to be hold for 6 months, even though on the packaging is written “12 months”, as the covering properties are easily and quickly altered. As for the compact foundation, this should be kept for 8 months because its oily and dry ingredients offer much more resistance to different external factors. Store your foundation into a dry place, away from light, especially if it has a transparent packaging.

Rubor compacto

Como las bacterias no se pueden desarrollar donde no hay humedad, la vida útil recomendada para el rubor es aproximadamente de 2 años. Un rubor cremoso se puede dañas más rápido porque como se aplica con las manos se transfieren más bacterias. Así que es apropiado usar una brocha para aplicarlo o una esponja.

Powder blush
As bacteria cannot develop where there is no water, the recommended shelf life for powder and blush is of about 2 years. A creamy blush might degrade quicker as you might transfer germs into the pot when applying it with your fingers. Therefore, it is more appropriate to use a brush or a sponge when applying them.

Crear rubor en crema a partir de polvo de cara roto

Para esta manera rápida de transformar el viejo maquillaje en uno nuevo, se necesita un bowl mediano. Se pone el polvo de cara roto en el tazón y se mezcla con una pequeña cantidad de crema de labios. Se mezclan los ingredientes hasta obtener una teztura ideal. Create cream blush from cracked face powder

For this quick way to transform old makeup into a new one, use a medium-sized bowl. Pour the cracked face powder into the bowl and add a tiny amount of lip balm to it. Mix the ingredients until you achieve the ideal texture. Use the soft cream blush each time you want to create the impression of a naturally glowing complexion.
