REVIEW: Maybelline Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

I had heard so much about the famous BB Creams and had not taken the time to try one.  I had read a little about them and how they were not up to those on the other side of the world, so I think that's why they didn't called my attention. Until a few days ago. I began to see them everywhere so I took it as a sign that I HAD to try them. (Yes, occasionally I believe in signs . Depends on the subject ). Anyway, I decided to buy the first who crossed my way, and that was the Dream Fresh BB Cream from Maybelline. Honestly Maybelline prodcuts have always worked well for me, so I took this as another sign . I bought the Light/Medium tone, my skin is light  -my mother likes to make fun of me saying I have a "milky white" skin-, so I bought that one because I assumed that a slightly darker tone than mine would help me look a little more "radiant" so to speak now that the Tan-Season is approaching .
What Maybelline says about this BB Cream, which by the way is 8-in-1:
Blurs imperfections, brightens, evens skin tone, smoothes, hydrates, enhances, protects with SPF 30 and is oil and heavy ingredients free.
Maybelline says it, and honestly it's all true. It has a water-gel texture that's very fresh. When applied, which is very easy either with fingers or brush (I used my fingers) you can feel how fresh and moisturizing is, and it doesn't take long to appy. It is not heavy and the tone adapted perfectly to my skin tone. I like the fact that it has sunscreen, but I would not use it as a blocker. For my skin tone I have always been recommended to use sunscreen, but since I'm a rebel I've never have, but if you do, do it before using the BB Cream . I have very little red area on my face, I wouldn't even call it red, it's more like pink, BUT it was covered perfectly well as some minor imperfections on my face. It makes your skin look in the same tone and gives a glow of health. It actually looks like you have a little natural makeup look. I used it for 8hrs and had no problems and no need for retouching. In my opinion it's perfect to accelerate the process of getting ready in the morning or when you do not feel likewearing makeup but don't wanna look like a zombie, plus it has a reasonable price (79 mexican pesos). So to finish I can say the Dream Fresh BB Cream Maybelline has my approval.

¿Mi trabajo me pertenece o yo le pertenezco a mi trabajo? // My job owns me, or I own my job?

No quería enorgullecer a Kim Kardashian.

Honestly I always feared this day. The day that I would have to have a job. An adult job. In the real world. Even worse, that I would have to wear a uniform.
It all started last weekend when I was informed that I had been hired for a position that actually had something to do with the career I'm studying, that itself was great. I was informed of the salary and it transport me to cloud nine in my sky. So, I prepared my suitcase, because the work is in the capital of the country (obviously on cloud nine I saw myself traveling on light rail, feeling like the girls who move to NYC and hope their lives become a copy of Sex and The City), I filled my suitcase of blouses and shirts that would make the first woman who ever work in an office (sorry, Goddess of the offices for not knowing your name).
I arrived on Tuesday, my first day of work, they showed me the facilities, I was introduced to many of the staff, they showed me my work area. Everything was marvelous until I went to the area of human resources and the girl there asked me my size. I had to wear a uniform. A white shirt that is obviously not meant to make anyone look remotely good and dubious colored pants (a mixture of cream, brown and yellow). I quickly went from heaven to hell. Fortunately, the pants were not in my size (Thanks, Goddess of the offices), so I was just given four white shirts with the logo of the company.
My first day I woke up extra early. Me, me who promised herself I'd never wake up early for mere vanity. There I was, in front of the white shirt that was mocking me while I took a coffee and my beautiful special shirts for work cried because they couldn't be elected to join me on this important day. Fortunately I could use my favorite dark denim jeans, but I had to do more, I had to get back the identity the ugly white shirt had stolen from me. I had to find the perfect balance of accessories, hair and makeup because I wasn't going to the gym nor to a party. I did not want to make Kim Kardashian proud.
So I checked some old blog posts, I remembered I had done one on daily makeup (which you can see here), I was inspired by the first image of Anne Hathaway, I added a little mascara I thought it was appropriate . For my hair I was inspired by the second picture of Keira, my hair is about 15cm longer than hers in the second photography and I have the bottom painted in a ombré style that goes from magenta pink to pastel pink (I know, office work with colored hair: not the best idea. But I'm still young, and I was running out of time to experiment with radical things like that). I got two rings, I can not leave without rings, and put on a chain-necklace that I bought at Forever21 last winter. I put on a gray hoodie from Zara and a black jacket/blazer from Zara (anyone who lives in Mexico City can understand me) I put some black flats with small colored stones. I was eager in not looking older than I am, and to not let that ugly white shirt make me disappear.
With my hair and makeup similar to Lana del Reys at the 65th Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Moonrise Kingdom last year (plus some pink lipstick: Maybelline 803 Impress Me) I left my house ready for my first work day. I guess what I'm trying to say is that no matter what your job is, you should not let it own you. You must find a way to feel comfortable with the way you look, you must look as good as you feel. You must be you. Soon yours truly promises to bring more options on how to achieve this. For now, from the world of real jobs for big girls, I say goodbye.
